Dr. Harriet Coggan is a licensed physical therapist and strength and conditioning specialist based in the Appalachian Mountains. She grew up in Johnson City, Tennessee, attended Davidson College in North Carolina for a BA in Anthropology, and returned home to pursue Doctorate of Physical Therapy at East Tennessee State University.
This clinic was started with a simple goal: to help people move well, feel strong, and stay active doing the things they love. Healthy movement is invaluable to a healthy life, and her approach is personal and hands-on, focused on understanding each individual’s goals and creating a plan that truly fits their life.
Movement and sport have always been a big part of Harriet’s life. She has represented the U.S. Canoe Slalom and Wildwater Teams for World Cup and World Championship competitions, podiumed at Olympic Team Trials for canoe slalom in 2021, and more recently picked up running and has achieved multiple Boston Marathon qualifying times. Those experiences taught her a lot about resilience, balance, and the value of smart, consistent training — lessons she carries into my work every day.
When she’s not in the clinic, paddling, or out on a run, you can usually find her spending time with her husband and corgi, exploring trails, rivers, skiing, or attempting to garden with varying degrees of success. She is also a volunteer elementary and middle school cross country and track and field coach, and gives talks regionally to teams and coaches to help improve their runners’ outcomes and prevent injuries.
